Psychotherapy in English
In theory and practice of psychology, there are several trends that don´t need to be incompatible. My way of doing therapy is based on the integration of them, looking for an individualized approach to each patient, including the perspectives and tools that can be helpful in your particular case. For instance, I do not treat depression caused by the loss of someone the same way as a depression based in feelings of shame or low self-esteem
Although the diagnosis is the same, the treatment will be different, but in both cases we will deal with the cognitive and the emotional component. In some cases it will be necessary to explore how the personality of the patient was built, and in other cases it will be unnecessary. Techniques must be adjusted to the patient, instead of forcing the patients to adapt to the techniques.
As I´ve been trained in different schools of psychology (cognitive, EMDR, humanist and psychoanalysis), I can offer this individualized itinerary that can be agreed with each patient after the initial assessment.
HOW IT WORKS
Seeking the focus of discomfort, its causes, how to cope with it, challenging distorted ideas and creating new ways of thinking, developing and implementing new skills, processing the trauma, facing gender mandates that make us suffer, connecting with one’s feelings and directing them to the pursuit and implementation of our own life project. In order to achieve this, we will use cognitive techniques, behavioral skills, guided imagery techniques, techniques of emotional expression and contact with the own physical sensations, imaginary dialogues, exploration of fantasies, trauma processing techniques such as EMDR and dream analysis. Techniques are selected according to the specific problems of each person and always with a focus on promoting autonomy, develop latent skills and acquire a more adequate attitude to face the adversities of life.
